Jacqueline Andre Schmeal
Jacqueline Andre Schmeal has been a member of the Rothko Chapel Board of Directors and the Program Committee Chair since 2005. She is a former president of the Houston Seminar, an organization that sponsors courses on political and social issues, where she has served on the board since 1978. Since 1987 and 1988, Mrs. Schmeal has served on the Board of Governors of Iowa State University in Ames and the Museum of New Mexico Foundation in Santa Fe. In 1997 she co-founded the Iowa Barn Foundation, a foundation committed to restoring Iowa’s rural buildings and preserving its heritage, where she currently serves as president. Since 2002 Mrs. Schmeal has also served on the Leadership Committee at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe. She earned her Masters degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Mrs. Schmeal is the author of Iowa Folk Art (Iowa State University Press) and Iowa Quilts and Quilters (University of Iowa Press).
