Gayle Ross DeGeurin

The Rothko Chapel offers structured courses for those wanting to cultivate relaxation or deepen their concentration through contemplative practices from April 5 - May 13. Led by experienced teachers, these courses represent a variety of modalities to center and quiet the mind.

All classes will be held in the Rothko Chapel Office Annex bungalow at 1415 Sul Ross St. Participants can either join a series or drop-in for individual classes aimed at enriching their awareness and mindfulness through meditation. The charge for the courses is as follows:

  • Drop-in cost $12
  • Per Series $60
  • Any class, any time $100

Gayle has been on the Rothko Chapel Board for the past seven years. She shares meditation experiences that she has gradually garnered on the way of her life. She is influenced by her teacher, Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh, beloved for his wisdom about how to be joyfully present in the moment. She also incorporates Erich Schiffman's teachings of relaxation in the body.  Always an experience, this time together is about discovery, a pause in the commentary of our life-filled life. Talk a bit, a little guided meditation....ring a bell, sit, ring another bell, stretch, sit. Talk a bit, silence. Discussion if needed. Comfortable clothing is recommended.
