Painting for Peace and the Art-Miles-Mural Project
Muslims in Houston have
joined with non-Muslims in assembling "Painting for Peace." Dozens
of participants of all ages and backgrounds have contributed to the
endeavor, whose aim is to promote peace and unity by inviting all members
of the community to collaborate in the painting of several large canvases.
The result is three lovely murals, representing the unique vision of peace
contributed by its painters.
Following their opening at Rice University, the murals will go on tour in
Houston, in Texas, and around the country. Tours end with the murals
becoming part of the Art-Miles-Mural Project, which will take 12 miles of murals and wrap
them around an Egyptian pyramid in 2010. A Meditation For
