Open Mic & Fashion Contest for LGBTQ+ Artists

We gathered for a day that centered creativity, love, and community! Co-curated with local community organizers Ethan Michelle Ganz and Jevon Martin, the Revolution of Joy Festival featured poetry, music, fashion, and visual artwork by artists of trans experience, celebrating joy and self-expression as a resistance strategy for queer communities.

The afternoon included performances inside the Chapel Sanctuary and tabling outside on the Plaza with artists and members from trans-led organizations.

1:00 PM – Festival tables opened on the Plaza and seating began inside the Sanctuary
1:30 PM – Poetry, music performances, and fashion contest took place inside the Sanctuary
3:00 PM – Program concluded, with tabling continuing until 4:00 PM

The festival also included a limited open mic for LGBTQ+ poets and musicians (sign-ups began at 1:00 PM) and an open LGBTQ+ fashion contest with categories for Best Design, Wore It Best, and Best Drag on the theme of “Revolution of Joy.” Winners received $100 gift cards.

Community safety was provided by Q Patrol. Special thanks to the Montrose Center for their support and partnership!

Nos reunimos para vivir un día enfocado en la creatividad, la autenticidad, el amor propio y la comunidad.
Cocurado junto con les organizadores comunitarios locales Ethan Michelle Ganz y Jevon Martin, el Festival Revolución de la Alegría presentó poesía, música, moda y arte visual creados por artistas de experiencia trans, celebrando la alegría y la autoexpresión como estrategias de resistencia dentro de las comunidades queer.

La tarde incluyó presentaciones dentro del santuario de la Capilla y mesas informativas en la Plaza con artistas y miembros de organizaciones dirigidas por personas trans.

1:00 p.m. – Se abrieron las mesas en la Plaza y comenzó la entrada al Santuario
1:30 p.m. – Se llevaron a cabo presentaciones de poesía, música y el concurso de moda dentro del Santuario
3:00 p.m. – El programa concluyó, y las mesas informativas continuaron hasta las 4:00 p.m.

El festival también incluyó una inscripción abierta (limitada) para micrófono abierto de poetas y músicos LGBTQ+ (a partir de la 1:00 p.m.) y un concurso de moda LGBTQ+ con categorías para Mejor Diseño, Mejor Puesta en Escena y Mejor Drag, bajo el tema “Revolución de la Alegría.”
Les ganadores recibieron tarjetas de regalo de $100.
