Join the Rothko Chapel and the ACLU-TX for a conversation exploring The New Americans, artist Vincent Valdez's powerful series of drawings that captures  the faces, stories, and communities of Texas and the United States. Through intimate portraits and evocative scenes, the work reflects the shared struggles, resilience, and collective spirit that define contemporary America.

Rothko Chapel Board Member Ellen Susman will moderate a thought-provoking discussion between Vincent Valdez and Lonnie Ali of the Muhammad Ali Center about the themes that run this series—identity, solidarity, resistance, and hope—revealing the enduring pulse of a struggling heart. These are The New Americans.

Parking & Transportation
Free street parking is available on Sul Ross, Yupon, Branard, and Mulberry streets. Please be mindful of posted time limits and permit restrictions, as Rothko Chapel is unable to cover parking citations. Additional parking is available at the UST Moran Center Garage for a $10 entry fee.

For those traveling by public transit, nearby METRO bus stops are served by the 56 Airline/Montrose route (via Montrose) and the 25 Richmond route (via Richmond).

If you're biking, bike racks are available in front of Chroma Restaurant at 1513 W. Alabama St.

For guests requiring accessible access, ADA-accessible walkways are located at the corners of Yupon St. & Sul Ross St. and Yupon St. & Branard St. For passenger drop-offs, we recommend using Sul Ross St. in front of the Welcome House at 1410 Sul Ross St., which provides the most convenient access to the Chapel campus.
