Neighborhood Community Day
1-2pm | Art Class for Families with Frida Kahlo by Express Children's Theatre (Inside Chapel)
1-3pm | Calligraphy Demonstration by Islamic Arts Society (Outside on Plaza)

Pay What You Can Tickets $5 - 25 | General admission bench seating

Thanks to a crack in the artistic space/time continuum, the internationally renowned artist, Frida Kahlo, will be transported from Mexico in the 1940s to the present day to lead an art class for Houston families. Everyone will learn a little about Frida and get a chance to express themselves, too, including an opportunity to hang their work in the windows of the Welcome House. Designed for kids of all ages and parents, too! Express Children’s Theatre is Houston’s oldest and largest multicultural performing arts and education organization dedicated to children and families. We are celebrating our 34th year of creating and presenting professional, culturally diverse shows that are designed to entertain and educate.

Join the Islamic Arts Society for a live calligraphy demonstration on the Plaza and request a name or phrase to take home with you! Islamic Arts Society aims to share the rich heritage of Islamic arts, as art is a common language and binds diverse communities. The society organizes events to celebrate our culture and promote the positive image of the Islamic community among Muslims and non-Muslims.
